At least ten people were killed and three injured in a shooting in New York state on Saturday. The suspected shooter has been arrested. He would have a racist motive, American media report.
It would be a white male suspect in military clothing and in possession of a semi-automatic firearm, reports BNO News† At the beginning of the afternoon (2.30 p.m. local time) he is said to have fired around a supermarket in the city of Buffalo. Many black Americans live in the neighborhood of the supermarket.
Shocking images of victims can be seen in photos and videos. Several were allegedly shot in the head. Five victims lie in the parking lot outside the store.
At least two injured are said to be in bad shape.
According to witnesses against Buffalo News one of the dead victims was a retired police officer who worked as a security guard at the supermarket. Another witness says he heard about 70 shots.
The shooter is said to have broadcast the shooting live on the social medium Twitch. He is also said to have put a manifesto of more than a hundred pages online, in which he describes himself as an eighteen-year-old who is convinced of the superiority of white people. He is also said to have anti-Semitic views.
Buffalo police have confirmed they have made an arrest around the shooting. It would be the shooter.
The local authorities confirm that an incident has taken place. The New York governor says he is monitoring the incident. Authorities advise citizens to avoid the area surrounding the incident.
A White House spokesman said President Joe Biden had been informed about the shooting and that he is praying for the victims.
