Sweeper cars drive on and off on Tuesday morning in the city center of Hoorn. The streets and squares are littered with plastic cups and other waste. “All leave have been withdrawn,” says one of the employees of the municipal cleaning service with a wink. “Tomorrow it will all be neat again.”

While the last fairground attractions are dismantled and find their way to another fair in the country, municipal spokesman Gea Wolfslag makes the balance: it was a lot busier than normal this year. “Especially with the fireworks show on Friday evening it was extremely busy. We are taking that into our evaluation. We are thinking of using crowd management.”

Boas had hands full

Especially on Westerdijk and at the city beach it was quite busy with cars. “It can of course be due to the nice weather that there were so many people, but at some point it was completely full. Next year we want to bet more on that. Then we will advise people, for example, no longer to come by car or choose another route.”

It is also felt that it was busy with the boas. They had their hands full of groups of young people who showed aggressive behavior and caused nuisance. A worrying trend Which you see at more fairs and other events. There was therefore a lick-end policy in Hoorn. “Dozens of area bans have been imposed that were violated,” said Wolfslag.
