Telstar could not bring much offensively. The Velsen team was inaccurate in possession of the ball. Too often a ball was handed in to the opponent and in some cases the ball rolled over the sideline. “The field was super soft. At some point you’re going to plow it up.”
Ronald Koeman Jr. had to watch Rick Ketting hit the post in the first half. Then the keeper grabbed a number of nice balls. In the final phase, the goalkeeper was unable to respond to a beautiful inswinging ball from Ilias Sierra. “A bizarre goal,” says defender Jeff Hardeveld. “There’s not much you can do about it turning in like that.”
