According to the minister, teachers in Denmark are dealing with a crisis of authority in the classroom and that is why school results are declining. With a new bill, the Danish government wants to give teachers more room to intervene physically when students misbehave. Teacher Hendrik Atze van Doezem explains in News of the Day whether this is a good idea. Physical intervention in the classroom in the Netherlands is only allowed in emergency situations where the safety of students or staff is at risk and there are no other options.
