A teacher at a secondary school in Boechout, Antwerp, was put on preventive suspension by the school board on Thursday. The man is said to have inappropriately approached a student at his school via social media, but was caught.
According to initial reports, the teacher in question allegedly created a fake profile on Snapchat and TikTok. There he allegedly pretended to be a fifth-grade student from a school in Kontich. This is how he allegedly approached the student, who is in the third grade. A conversation ensued, but the student in question found the content rather strange. The teacher allegedly said, among other things, that he loved her. She then decided to call her conversation partner – the teacher – via Snapchat. He answered, causing his face to be visible for a few seconds and for him to be recognized by the student.

More details about the incident are not yet known, but the police of the Minos zone have started an investigation into the teacher who teaches the first and second grades at the school in Antwerp. That school decided to suspend him preventively so that the disciplinary committee also has time for an internal investigation into the matter. In the meantime, the teacher continues to deny all allegations. He sent an email to his students stating that he would no longer teach for ‘personal reasons’. At this time, no official complaint has been filed against him.
The teacher is also said to be active at the Beerschot football club and at the Chiro van Ramsdonk.
