Takeover KV Kortrijk: “More questions than answers”
KV Kortrijk seems to be the only club in KAM Sports’ portfolio for the time being. It is therefore a matter of waiting for concrete actions from the new owners. Nothing has been said about a new CEO, a trainer, or the timing of their appointment.
KV Kortrijk the only club within Kam Sports
Sports economist at KU Leuven, Wim Lagae: “After a two-minute press conference where a short text is read on the smartphone, and no questions are allowed, you don’t have a good feeling about it. After the press conference you actually more questions than you have answers. If you look at the KAM Sports website, you will see that KV Kortrijk may be the first club until further notice.”
“And when I look at what drives American clubs to invest in Belgian clubs, it is usually also in a multi-club model. For example RWDM or Standard, there are several clubs together. And what they try to do is centralize scouting. Eliminate brokers, minimize incoming transfers. There is a whole multi-club model behind that.”
“So if there is no network today, then you may have to pay a lot of tuition with KV Kortrijk.”
Who did the financial screening?
And Lagae still has a second question: “What is also important is that there is also a fog surrounding the operation. Because, to my knowledge, Vincent Tan is the only one who has screened father and son Kaminski. The background has also not been communicated. So there are a lot of questions in this phase.”
