Tackling poverty: ‘Employer stick your neck out!’

Brongers and the Tintengroep succeeded in finding employers who dared to do so. He sees examples of companies where 1 FTE was replaced by two people who are less fortunate and lived in poverty. The result: “The woman could be an example to her children; they stayed out of juvenile detention and she no longer had to sell her body for money. She set a good example to her children, to the neighborhood and to the rest of her family That’s how that image spreads like an oil slick.”

An organization that frees up 1 fte for an experience expert is the welfare organization Sedna in Emmen. “We see many different issues and we try to support them as best as possible. And then it helps that you also look at your approach from other perspectives, at your approach. And that’s where experts by experience are so important,” says Marleen Tent, director of Sedna.
