His second time in London was not characterized by success. In Leipzig he apparently has no future. Timo Werner therefore probably moves to the USA.

The signs are condensed: Timo Werner’s time at RB Leipzig could soon end. As the “Leipziger Volkszeitung” reports, the 29-year-old is faced with a move to the United States. His new employer should become the New York Red Bulls.

The attacker still has a contract in Leipzig until summer 2026. Most recently, he was borrowed from Tottenham Hotspur for a year and a half, but where he could not prevail. In 41 games, the striker only scored three goals – a balance that held the English club from considering a firm obligation.

Werner had no longer played a role in the past few months. Although the former Stuttgarter with Tottenham officially won the Europa League, the club had been deleted from the squad for international competition at the beginning of the year. Werner’s last competitive game dates from February 26th.

In the United States, the former German international (57 international matches, 24 goals) would meet an old friend: Emil Forsberg, with whom he was already playing in Leipzig. The coach at Red Bull New York is the former Bundesliga coach Sandro Schwarz.

Werner switched to Chelsea in 2020 for around 53 million euros. Two years later, he returned to Leipzig for around 20 million euros. The loan to Tottenham followed in January 2024. After the disappointing commitment to the “Spurs”, a lot now indicates that the club and Werner will finally go separate paths.
