Kira Toussaint and Maaike de Waard were unable to surprise in the 100 meter backstroke at the World Swimming Championships in Doha. Last year’s numbers 12 and 11 reached the final this time, partly due to the lack of many competitors, but finished last. De Waard finished seventh in 1.00.64, just ahead of the disappointing Toussaint.
