Swimming World Championship: Wassen sisters clearly miss the podium

In the fifth World Championship final in Fukuoka, the German water jumpers clearly missed out on a medal. The European champions Christina and Elena Wassen finished sixth in the decision in the synchronized tower diving with 283.08 points.

The Berliners slipped down to eighth place with their first freestyle jump and were unable to improve significantly.

In the Prefectural Pool, he was 11.34 points short of bronze. The title was won by the favorites Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan from China (369.84) with numerous 10-pointers ahead of the duos from Great Britain and the USA.

Swimming World Championship: Wesemann works his way up to sixth place

Three and a half hours earlier, Moritz Wesemann had also jumped from the 1m board to sixth place (388.55) in the final. With the highest rating of the competition, the 21-year-old had moved up from ninth place in the last round.

Mexico’s Osmar Olvera Ibarra finished second to prevent another Chinese double by beating Zheng Jiuyuan to third in Peng Jianfeng’s win.

On Saturday, Timo Barthel and Lars Rüdiger, third at the World Championships in 2022, in synchronized jumping from the 3m board, Pauline Pfeif and Alexander Lube in mixed synchronized jumping from the tower and Jette Müller from the 1m board each only had the disappointing place ten occupied.
