Striker Younes Ebnoutalib made the jump from the Regionalliga Südwest to the 2nd Bundesliga after just around five months. The 21-year-old center forward is moving from FC Gießen to the league leaders of the lower house, SV 07 Elversberg, in January. As the Saarlanders announced, the Frankfurt native has signed a contract until 2028.
Ebnoutalib played in his youth for Rot-Weiss Frankfurt and SV Wehen Wiesbaden, among others, and in 2022 he made the move to Italy to AC Perugia. There, the 1.91 meter tall attacker played 23 times for the U19s (four goals/three assists) and once for the men in Serie C, and also sat on the bench once in Serie B. After his departure from Perugia in January 2024, he was without a club for six months before the move to Giessen came about.
“Younes has a lot of potential and the talent to assert himself in the 2nd Bundesliga. He is a fast, creative striker who can take the next steps here with us,” says SVE sports director Ole Book in a statement on the club website. Ebnoutalib added: “I am very happy about the opportunity to prove myself here at SV Elversberg. It will be another new challenge for me, but I’m looking forward to getting to know the team in two weeks and then starting a new chapter.”
