Fate has struck for Suzan & Freek. Because of his metastatic lung cancer, they say they don’t even know for sure if he will reach the end of the year. “Talk shows are now fighting.”

Talk show
The question nowadays in Hilversum: do they appear together again on television? According to medianer Victor Vlam, there must now be a fierce ‘struggle’ between talk shows behind the scenes to be able to interview the duo once more. Does he advise them to tell their story on television? “Yes, actually.”
He continues in the podcast The Communicado’s: “I think there is a hard fight behind the scenes for an interview with the two. I think every interviewer would really like to do that. There would be a very large audience for that. Undoubtedly, management has received many requests for interviews.”
Bell from Eva
It will not only go through editors, Victor thinks. “I think the Eva Jineks of this world – I can imagine – have already approached the duo for a possible interview. I think it can be good for Suzan & Freek. Martijn Krabbé has given an interview to Antoinnette Scheulderman in a similar situation.”
Martijn told his story in the Linda. And not on television. “An interview has two very big advantages. First of all, it is: the whole of the country sympathizes with them and that means that you can get a lot of love back for it. The second advantage is: by telling your story, you will be awarded a little more privacy by the gossip press,” says Victor.
‘Many questions’
There are still many question marks with the fans of Suzan & Freek, says Victor. “People have a lot of questions. For example, how long did they know that something was wrong with Freek? And if you answer that yourself, you will prevent people from digging in your personal situation.”
Where does he think Suzan & Freek will sit down, if they want on TV with this? “I think the most logical candidate is Eva Jinek. She is, no matter how you turn it, the most important interviewer of the moment. She is also known for her entire empathic style. She also knows Suzan & Freek, because they were still at the table last January.”
Summer break
Eva is currently with summer break, but in this case she would be given the space from NPO 1 to make a special on Prime Time, thinks Victor. “I think Renze Klamer is also a logical candidate. They have been a guest with him several times. He is also a lot younger. He has about the same age as Suzan & Freek.”
Where Eva is 46 years old, with his 36 years, Renze is only four years older than Freek. “And that could mean that it is easier to connect with the duo, and the interview could take place in his talk show.”
‘Beau is also possible’
A third possible candidate? “That seems to me Beau, who is also known for his very human interviews. He shows that in, for example, Casa di Beau, but also in the past the conversations with people in The Amsterdam Project and Five Days Inside.”
“He is warm, he is personal, he is involved and that is exactly what you need for such an interview,” concludes Victor.
