Suspension Oristanio is heavier, FC Volendam is considering appeal

The penalty for the red card of FC Volendam player Gaetano Oristanio has been increased after treatment by the disciplinary committee. The midfielder is not allowed to play for the next five games. The original proposal was a five-match suspension, one of which was conditional. FC Volendam is still considering whether to appeal against the sentence.

Oristanio received the red card in the home game against AZ (1-1), because he kicked Jordy Clasie from behind on the Achilles tendons. Because he then also spat at the referee, the penalty is so high.

FC Volendam awaits the detailed ruling of the KNVB before the club decides to appeal. The 20-year-old Italian is suspended against FC Twente on Sunday anyway. If the sanction remains as it is now, he will also miss the matches against Vitesse, NEC, Emmen and Feyenoord. Oristanio will not be eligible to play again until March 17 in the home match against Fortuna Sittard.
