Suspension and fine for Liverpool’s van Dijk

Defense chief Virgil van Dijk will miss another game for top English football club Liverpool FC in the Premier League.

This was decided by the English Association (FA). After his sending off against Newcastle United, Van Dijk showed a lack of understanding, argued with referee John Brooks and only hesitantly left the pitch.

As a result, he has to sit out another game and also pay a fine of £100,000.

“The defender acknowledged that he had behaved inappropriately and used vulgar and offensive words towards the official,” the FA said on Friday.

Because of the sending off, van Dijk had already missed the 3-0 (2-0) against Aston Villa last Sunday. The Dutchman now has to watch the Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 16th (1:30 p.m./Sky).
