The figure skating community was faced with a tragedy.

Former figure skater Susanna Rahkamo Woke up on Thursday to the scary news. The passenger plane collided with a helicopter and crashed into the river in Washington.

It soon became clear that there were members of the US Figure Skating Association from skaters, coaches and their family members. The Soviet Union had also represented the Soviet Union in the skating race Inna Voljanskaya as well as a couple of wins of the World Championship Gold in 1994 Yevgenia shshkovaVadim Naumov.

Rahkamo described the news in a publication on Facebook.

– I woke up to heartbreaking news from a flight crash that took so many figure skaters, their coaches and family members, among many others.

Rahkamo works on the board of the International Figure Skating Association ISU.

– My thoughts and partial take to anyone that this incredible tragedy touches. I’m really sorry we lost my former racing companion. For years, we skated in the same races with šškova and Naumov.

The air crash is not believed to have survivors. In total, 60 passengers and four crew members were on board.

– Today the whole figure skating family is mourning together. As time passes, we find the means to honor the memory of the dead, Rahkamo decided and sent participants to anyone mourning.

In his career, Rahkamo won the European Championship of Ice Dance, the European Championship bronze and the World Championship silver and bronze medal.
