At the start of the 2025 biathlon European Championship, Johanna Puff secured the title in singles thanks to a flawless performance at the shooting range. The 22-year-old prevailed over the 15 kilometers before her German teammate Marlene Fichtner (+ 9.5 seconds) and the Swede Anna-Karin Heijdenberg (+ 18 seconds).
“I didn’t even know a week ago whether I would get the chance here in Martell. The fact that it worked out so well makes me really flabbergasted,” Puff is quoted by the “Sport news.bz” portal.
Biathlon European Championship: Lukas Hofer “Happy-and also mega proud”
The German biathlete received support from her friend Lukas Hofer. “I think that he inspired me a little. But in general I feel at home in South Tyrol, I just enjoy it,” enthused puff.
He was “naturally happy-and also mega proud,” cheered Hofer himself about his girlfriend’s gold coup. He was in Martell “to support Johanna, but the spotlight is only due. She hadn’t had an easy time in the end, so this performance is all the more impressive today,” said the Italian biathlon routine.
The European Biathlon Championship in South Tyrol continues until February 2. A total of eight medal decisions are on the program. The norwegian Isak Frey won the singles for men.
The two sprint races continue on Friday. The persecution competitions are on the program on Saturday. The two seasons finally form the end of the 2025 biathlon European Championship on Sunday.
