At the premiere game of the club world championship in the USA, a compatriot from Superstar Lionel Messi trumps. The former world football player only turns on after the break.

The start of the extended club tournament in the USA was disappointing for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami. At the 0-0 against Al-Nahry from Cairo, the hosts hardly felled-especially in the first round, the Egyptian record champion dominated. Inter Miami could have been back at the break. Al-Nahry earned numerous opportunities in front of 60,927 spectators and even awarded a penalty. Trezeguet failed shortly before the half -time whistle on Miami’s goalkeeper Oscar Ustari, who shone with several parades in the course of the game.

“He kept us alive,” said coach Javier Mascherano about his 38-year-old goalkeeper. Even after the change of sides, Inter Miami remained without a goal – despite good opportunities in the team’s first appearance in the new tournament format. Messi and his teammates largely ran behind in the first round. Al-Nahry presented himself more enthusiastically, while the Americans hardly found any access. It was only after the break that they got better into the game, but remained lucky in front of the opposing goal.

Messi only became significantly more visible after the change of sides. With his attempted shooting after 57 minutes, the veteran determined the pace. He initiated the possibility of Marcelo Weigandt (60th). A free kick by the superstar landed on the outside network (64th). Substitute Fafa Picault failed after Messi play with a head from a short distance to al-Nahry’s keeper Mohamed elshenawy (85th). Superstar Messi missed the last chance: the Egyptian goalkeeper steered his Schlenzer in added time.

For FC Bayern, the club World Cup begins with the game against Auckland City from New Zealand on Sunday (6 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online). The second German participant is Borussia Dortmund. BVB will meet the Brazilian Club Fluminense in its first game on Tuesday.
