Superfan Guus Meeuwis well on his way to 70 concerts thanks to an extra show

Guus Meeuwis will perform not five, but six times in the Philips Stadium next year with Groots with a Soft G. The singer has announced an extra show on Thursday 20 June. This makes the last concerts the longest series in his entire career. And his biggest fan Joyce Hamer already has tickets for that show. “I don’t know if my husband is still happy with me,” she laughs.

Before the singer from Tilburg announced the news on Wednesday evening, Joyce was already aware. “A friend of mine already saw the extra show on Ticketmaster. She immediately called me to see if I had already seen it.”

Besides, it didn’t come as a complete surprise to her. “In a video message, Guus had already told me that I could tap the 70 shows. With six shows I come to 69. So I expect even one more to come. I estimate in the Sunday of the last weekend.”

“It’s a lot of money, but I don’t want to miss a single show.”

“I also don’t know how happy my husband is with me after that series,” Joyce laughs. Doesn’t she also take a deep sigh with every new show? “It’s a lot of money, but I don’t want to miss it,” says Joyce. “I have always been there, so I want to tap the 70 now.”

For that, Joyce still has to get hold of the tickets for Saturday 22 June. Because she doesn’t have one yet. And that show is sold out. “I secretly hope very much that Guus will give me that gift. I would really love that.”

The singer from Tilburg announced at the end of March that he would stop with the Groots concerts. He started with the shows in 2006 and since then the singer has been in the stadium in Eindhoven almost every year. Next year will be the last edition. And with six shows, it is bigger than ever before. In 2010, 2015 and 2017 Guus gave five concerts in a row. In 2024 there will be six for the first time. Three of those shows are already sold out.
