The procedure against former DFB President Theo Zwanziger on suspicion of severe tax evasion has been terminated against a money requirement of 10,000 euros.

As expected, the trial against Theo Zwanziger was hired on Wednesday before the Frankfurt/Main Regional Court. Of the three suspects, nobody sits on the dock. For this, the German Football Association (DFB) is in focus.

Former DFB President Zwanziger, 79, was released from the trial against a fine of 10,000 euros. “Today it’s around. I also want right peace”said twenties: “We have always tried to get light into the dark with our possibilities. Theo Zwanziger is not a corrupt person who is deceptive.”

Attorney General Jesco Kümmel evaluated the attitude of the proceedings as “proper”.

Procedure against Schmidt and Niersbach

The procedure against the former DFB general secretary Horst R. Schmidt had already been stopped last week. Schmidt had to pay 65,000 euros. Last year, the former DFB boss Wolfgang Niersbach achieved a penalty of 25,000 euros.

DFB becomes the accused

As a result, the focus is now on the DFB. The association as “Legal person” will be from the previous “Additional parties” to the defendant. The public prosecutor has made the corresponding application for a fine procedure in order to obtain a judgment against the DFB. The prosecutors accuse the association around 2.7 million euros in tax evasion.
