Many still think that the password should look crypt to be safe. DNA Security Director Seppo Pekonen notes in the company’s announcement that the perception is obsolete, as new breakdown methods do not care about how random a special character -character password looks like.
According to Pekonen, the best security is the length of the password. He himself recommends a password filing or phrase that combines dialect words, bent wording, and numbers and special characters. In this case, we are already quite safe from modern breakdown methods.
According to Pekonen, a password verdict that meets the criteria could be, for example Boys on the 23 days in fish. However, even a great password disappears if the same or even similar password is mistaken for more places.
– Unfortunately, in addition to usernames, you will often end up with passwords from poorly protected online services in addition to usernames. If you use too many -like passwords, their logic may be revealed to the attacker very easily after several breaks, Pekonen says in a DNA bulletin.
Pekonen recommends using a different password for all services and, where possible, a different username, such as a security expert Mikko Hyppönen has said he is doing.
– The amount of cybercrime has risen to a whole new level. Already with one password, the criminal can have access to the entire online identity, Pekonen warns.
Managing passwords and usernames can be facilitated by using purpose -made applications. These include 1password, Lastpass and Bitwarden.
