Substitute Walid Ould-Chikh chooses eggs for his money and is loaned to Roda JC

Walid Ould-Chikh will play football in South Limburg next season. The FC Volendam midfielder is rented out to Roda JC for one season, he confirms NH Sports. The 23-year-old midfielder hopes to make more playing minutes with the first divisionist.

At Roda JC the chance of playing minutes is considerably greater than at Volendam. The New Orange hopes that Ould-Chikh can develop into a better footballer there. Ould-Chikh has been brought in from Limburg as an attacking midfielder. At FC Volendam, however, he was often used as a defensive midfielder or as a winger. Ould-Chikh is still under contract with FC Volendam until mid-2025 with an option for one more season.

The change of trainers at FC Volendam was no reason for Ould-Chikh to leave. “I just want to make more minutes and hopefully my time will come after that,” he says shortly after the signatures have been signed. “I still know the trainer Bas Sibum from my time at FC Emmen. We have always kept in touch and they wanted me. I am also happy that I can join quickly and participate in the entire preparation at Roda. I wanted don’t wait until the end of August.”

Brotherly quarrel

With the rental, the period of the Ould-Chikh brothers at FC Volendam comes to a (temporary) end. Walid and Bilal have been playing together in the fishing village for two seasons. Last season, Walid played 27 games in the Eredivisie, but he never played a full game. Bilal Ould-Chikh was recently removed from the selection three times, but is still part of the group.

Last year, NH Sport made the report below with Walid and Bilal Ould-Chikh in Volendam.
