The Bredene municipal council did not approve the budget for the church factories last night, although this is legally required. Two council members convinced the majority to postpone the item, because according to them, cooperation with the church factories is difficult.
The central church board reacts with surprise and regrets the decision. “I was astonished to hear that the churches did not want to speak to the municipality,” says Gilbert Vanleenhove, chairman of the Bredene Central Church Board. “That is blatantly incorrect. We are available and willing to consult. Some council members may not yet be fully familiar with the file, but we would like to correct this.”
