According to Westtoer, the number of day tourists and overnight stays this weekend was higher than during Pentecost, but still under the peak days of extended weekends such as 1 May or Ascension. The hotels booked an average of 85% occupation, with even complete occupation in some places. Last-minute bookings in particular contributed to the good grades.
On Saturday it peaked again by the sea with 28 degrees on the beach, which clearly had an attraction for visitors. About 160,000 day tourists enjoyed a trip to the sea. The pressure barometer colored yellow to orange in popular seaside resorts such as Blankenberge, Middelkerke, Ostend and Knokke-Heist at peak times.
Westtoer speaks of a nice run -up to the summer holidays, although the exam period of students still plays a role in the spread of visitor numbers.
