Trade union FNV suspends the strike of temporary workers at Jumbo distribution centers from next week. The actions have not led to the improvements desired by the Bond for the new ABU CAO for temporary workers, but according to FNV director Karin Heynsdijk the strike has not been for nothing. At the end of August there will be a conversation with employers.
In addition to the strikes at Jumbo distribution centers, the trade union also scraps the strikes of temporary workers from Albert Heijn. “Something has started in recent weeks that no one had thought possible: temporary workers, almost all labor migrants, stand up for their own rights,” Heynsdijk emphasizes. According to her, that is a lot in view of the uncertain position of these people on the labor market.
In recent weeks, the union had hundreds of strikers, who work at the distribution centers through broadcasting parties such as Otto, Carebo and Tempo Team. FNV wants the temporary employees to receive at least the same employment conditions as permanent employees with their client. The impact of the actions was small.
Little impact
Jumbo recently said that the promotions were not noticeable for customers. Earlier Albert Heijn did report some supply problems, which means that some products were temporarily less available in certain regions. Later the supermarket said that the supply had recovered.
At the end of August, the employers, FNV and other trade unions, led by chairman Kim Putters of the Social Economic Council (SER), talk again about the collective labor agreement, which previously corresponded to the temporary employment sector with the smaller trade union LBV. Then FNV wants to raise its requirements again. The union does not exclude new promotions.
