Streetwear meets orthopedics: GmbH collaborates with Scholl

The Berlin Streetwear Label GmbH makes orthopedic shoes suitable for catwalks.

The designer duo Serhat Işık and Benjamin Huseby and the shoe manufacturer Scholl Footwear are launching a joint shoe model. The “Ghazal Pescura” celebrated its premiere at the Paris Fashion Week last October, and now the newly interpreted Pescura model is coming to stores, Scholl announced on Thursday.

The collaboration with Scholl was part of GmbH’s ‘Ghatal’ collection, which was seen as a tribute to the two co-founders’ South Asian heritage. The word “ghazal” denotes a poetic expression of the beauty and pain of love, often accompanied by music, the statement said.

The shoe was inspired by the Pescura model from the 70s. The Berlin designers combined the massage footbed and wooden sole known for Scholl with a robust but softly padded upper made of recycled synthetic leather and technical mesh fabric. The model is available in different colors such as moss green, burgundy red and silver.

The “GmbH x Scholl” capsule will be available from mid-July in the brands’ respective online shops and in selected stores. The model is priced at 195 euros.
