“I use social media quite a lot, but very consciously. My goal is half an hour a day, although that does not always work. I see it as a nice way to share what you stand for, as long as it stays sincere. There is a lot of superficiality, such as videos that do not add anything. I would rather see real stories, no ‘look at me’ posts. Like my personal lifestyle, and style, I only use social media from people on the age of 17.

“For me, social media feels like chocolate eating: it is delicious, you suddenly take too much and then you are very disappointed. I am a lot on social media for relaxation. I watch friends or interior on Instagram, but I almost never post it myself. At the same time I notice how addictive it is, I even take my phone to the toilet. I often look at them as a boring, that is boring. I find it difficult to see my children, but what do they want to respect their privacy, but at the same time I think social media is crucial.

“I am on an average of four hours a day on social media, especially on Instagram and WhatsApp. On vacation I even use it more, out of boredom. Only for Tiktok did I consciously draw a border. I never even downloaded it because I know how deep I would disappear in the app if I had to deduct myself. If I could just spend a new hobby, an extra side hobby, one by -job, I would like to think about social media. Contact with people, you have your phone in your hand and I also get my news nowadays, but what is sent to me?
Laura: ‘Because I have no form of social media, I miss information’
Laura Martinez (46)
“I have not had social media for years. I have removed Facebook five years ago and I never had Instagram or Tiktok. I miss some platforms, like Pinterest for inspiration. But I noticed that all those images and opinions sat down in my head. It is so addictive and you get lost easily in endless scrolls. Because I have no form of my danks, but the video’s. I now get my newsfeed on my phone or TV, it can all be too much.

“I mainly use Instagram, Snapchat and Tiktok. Tiktok is really addictive – you just keep scrolling, because you never know what the next video is. Sometimes I am therefore longer than planned on my phone, especially while studying. It is so easy to be distracted, because everything is literally within reach. I often try to go out for a cafe, for example, because I turn out, for example, because I set a cafe, for example, for example. I consciously follow different sources, because you only get one side of the story. Tricky. That’s why I always look a little further. “
