The tower of a church building in the Brugse Vlamingstraat started to crumble on Wednesday. After a first inspection, it was decided to send a technical team on site. The intention is to map the possible dangers and to ensure the necessary safety measures. The residents of the buildings next to the church must leave their home during the check.

Due to the incident, the Vlamingstraat is temporarily closed between Kipstraat and the Kortelwinkel. Everyone has to detour via the Academiestraat, Spanjaardstraat and the Kortelwinkel. As a precaution, the immediate vicinity of the church has also been closed off. According to the local police, the nuisance could last all day.
