Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower opens up about his drug addiction

Stranger Things actor Jamie Campbell Bower recently opened up about his hospitalization for his drug addiction. He announced on Twitter that he was celebrating seven and a half years of sobriety.

Bower is best known for his role as Vecna in the fourth season of Stranger Things. Before that he played roles in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, The Twilight Saga and as a young Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 1.

“Every day is a chance to start over”

In a tweet he wrote of his struggle with addiction: “Twelve and a half years ago I was an active addict. I hurt myself and the people around me I loved the most. It got so bad that I ended up in a mental health clinic. I’ve now been clean and sober for seven and a half years. I’ve made many mistakes in my life. But every day is a chance to start afresh. Atone for mistakes and grow”.

“For anyone who wakes up and thinks, ‘Oh god, not again,’ I promise there is a way. I’m so grateful to be where I am, I’m so grateful to be sober. I’m so thankful to be there. Remember, we’re not all done yet,” he wrote.

The actor is believed to be reprising his role as Vecna in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, set entirely in Hawkins.
