While the campsite in Borger is almost deserted, the Luxor cinema in Meppel is very busy due to the bad weather. “We now have so many visitors that we are far above the Dutch market for the autumn holidays,” says cinema manager Anouk Strijker.
“We are returning to the figures of 2019, before the corona crisis, and that is truly exceptional.”
Due to Storm Benjamin, the cinema is so busy that extra staff is deployed. “We started with a normal staffing level, but when we saw the weather forecasts and the figures of the first days we deployed extra people.”
The cinema expects the crowds to continue for the time being and takes into account that people will buy tickets at the last minute.
