Bas B. (50) from Roosendaal has to go to prison for two years for abusing his stepchildren. He will also receive a six-month suspended prison sentence if he commits another crime within the next two years. Bas B. had sex with his stepson for years in his house in Roosendaal. He also secretly filmed his stepdaughter.
The court blames the suspect heavily for not disclosing his affairs at any time. He also has no responsibility or concern for the condition of the stepchildren and his wife.
Double life
On May 11, 2020, the stepson (then 15) had mustered up all his courage. He then told a friend that he had been abused since he was 12 by his stepfather Bas, his mother’s new husband. The ball started rolling quickly when he told his sister (then 19) and mother. Bas was evicted and the police were called.
Bas’s double life quickly became clear: the police found hundreds of child pornography photos on his computer, separate hard drives and USB sticks. He also had films and thousands of images and videos of sex with animals. Bas also appeared to chat under the name Eric Bi. He had pictures of a friend of the stepdaughter and he also chatted with her. He had also secretly filmed his stepdaughter (then 15) in the bathroom.
Terrified
The shock was great in what, until May 11, seemed like a happily blended family. The children told the judges during the hearing two weeks ago that they had been terrified. According to the stepson, everyone would abandon him if he told them that he and Bas often had sex. The stepdaughter did not dare to shower when Bas was in the house, even though she had exercised.
Bas B. has always denied that anything strange happened, but he could not explain the stories of his stepchildren either. He also had no explanation as to how all that child and animal pornography had ended up on hard drives and USB sticks. And all of this in his house, especially in the hobby room where his PC was located.
Honeymoon
He was the bogeyman, that’s how Bas explained all the accusations. He didn’t know anything about computers at all. The external hard drive containing animal porn belonged to his ex-father-in-law. The child pornography had to have been downloaded by someone else and he had not filmed the stepdaughter either.
The secret nude photos of his wife, taken on their honeymoon, had also inexplicably ended up on one of the hard drives. And the condoms in a box in his hobby room also belonged to someone else and he never came to the stepchildren’s bedrooms.
