Stella McCartney debuts at Shanghai Fashion Week, SS24 program announced

The details of the upcoming Shanghai Fashion Week SS24 have been announced and the event will be more intertwined with the international fashion industry and other sectors than ever before.

A familiar name on the schedule this year is Stella McCartney, who will make her Shanghai Fashion Week (SFW) debut on the final day of fashion week, further expanding her presence in the region.

McCartney’s ties to SFW have been known since FW23, when she teamed up with renowned Chinese designer Shie Lyu – who will also be featured this season – for Lyu’s Land Mermaids collection. Now the British designer is set to bring her own eponymous brand to the international stage, with an Asia-Pacific premiere.

In addition, McCartney will also be present at the opening ceremony of the innovative materials exhibition “The Future of Fashion”, which will take place during fashion week.

Harrods, Kering and WWD will host programs and events

Other labels and designers on the program include SFW veterans Private Policy, Shushu/Tong, Nan Knits, Oude Waag and Staffonly, while Tony Hans Donottag and Edison Chens Clot are among the labels taking part are there for the first time.

To further secure its placement with consumers, SFW will revive its consumer-focused project Fashion Carnival, which focuses on lifestyle activities around the city’s landmarks. British department store Harrods will be on hand to present a mentorship program focused on sustainability in materials, product design and retail as part of its new concept “The Harrods Hive”, while WWD China will host Global Fashion Industry ESG Leadership Summit 2023 will be.

Each of these events, among many others planned, is part of SFW’s efforts to respond to changes in the industry and build a platform to promote domestic and international talent.
