Stefan Effenberg expects a close championship fight between BVB and FC Bayern

Former Bayern captain Stefan Effenberg (55) expects a multi-fight for the championship in the upcoming Bundesliga season.

With a view to RB Leipzig’s 3-0 win against FC Bayern a week ago in the Supercup, the former national soccer player told the news portal “t-online”: “That was a sign for the Bundesliga. I expect a close championship fight in which Dortmund, Leipzig and Leverkusen will be the Bayern hunters”.

All of Bayern’s competitors “have bought and increased very well, although perhaps not quite with the radiance of a 100 million transfer from Harry Kane,” said Effenberg before the opening game between Werder Bremen and FC Bayern on Friday (8:30 p.m.). “They will put a lot of pressure on Bayern right from the start.”

Among other things, BVB has signed Felix Nmecha (Wolfsburg) and Marcel Sabitzer (Munich) for millions of euros, as well as Leipzig striker Loïs Openda (Lens). FC Bayern has spent more than 100 million euros for the captain of the English national team Kane – more than any Bundesliga club before.
