Statement of the day | Reverse flags should be able to hang everywhere in Drenthe

In most municipalities in Drenthe, inverted flags will be allowed to hang on public property for the foreseeable future. Only in Coevorden they have to be removed soon. Ridiculous?

They are still everywhere in Drenthe: the reversed Dutch flags. In some streets, a majority of the houses have such a flag on the facade and they have also been hanging on public properties such as street lamps and traffic lights for weeks.

Municipalities of Drenthe are visibly struggling with this. What should you do? Are municipal properties intended for this kind of protest? No, says Coevorden.

This municipality is the only one that has given the protesting farmers an end date: flags that are still hanging after August 15 will be removed by the municipality. Is it ridiculous that Coevorden wants to be the exception to the rule?
