With Königstransfer Carlotta Wamser, Bayer Leverkusen wants to annoy the top trio of the women’s Bundesliga. At the start, an atmospheric backdrop is waiting in Munich.
In the women of Bayer Leverkusen There is a good atmosphere before the Bundesliga start with the German champion Bayern Munich (live on Saturday from 5:30 p.m. at Sportschau.de). Of course, this is the last season, which ended in fourth place just behind the qualification for the Champions League-but also because the women from the Bayer Kreuz are certainly believed to seriously intervene in the fight for the Champions League places.
Bayer wants to confirm record season
After all, the development last season has shown where it could go: In the first half of the season, Bayer was still on par with the top trio from Munich, Wolfsburg and Frankfurt. In the second half of the season, Leverkusen could not completely keep this consistency – nevertheless the team of coach Roberto Pätzold became fourth in the table. A new club record was also set up with 43 points.
“There was the most balanced season of all time in the last season. That speaks for the quality of the league and it will be difficult, no matter who we are playing. It is a very exciting league. The increase is interesting. Well -known names with Union Berlin, HSV and Nuremberg have been added to my games in the big arenas. This is of course attractive,” the coach looked in a media round before the opening game on the new season.
Big backdrop at the start in Munich
With the big arenas, Bayer is already very familiar with the away games among the climbers. Because at the start, the maximum challenge is waiting for Bayer: The women from the opponent from Munich also move to the Great Allianz Arena for this game. More than 50,000 cards have already been sold – the league record of around 38,000 fans at the Cologne game against Frankfurt will definitely fall. Before the game, FC Bayern invites you to the big fan and family festival in front of the arena.
Spätzold emphasized that it was an absolute “outsider”. Leverkusen is certainly not without a chance. “If you play against FC Bayern, you have to walk to fall over. This is a top team. We have to be gross and go to every duel,” said Neu-access Carlotta Wamser at the sports show microphone.
Wamser is Leverkusen’s royal transfer
Wamser also sees her strengths exactly, and she has already experienced the big stage. At the European Championship European Championship, she not only moved into the DFB squad, but also into the focus of the public when captain Giulia Gwinn was injured. The 21 -year -old convinced right away – until a red card against Sweden suddenly ended her appearances.
Now she represents something like the royal transfer of the Bayer managers. Because Wamser is progressing, with a lot of commitment, joy and self-confidence. She returned from the European Championship vacation earlier than planned – just to not miss the training start at her new Bayer Leverkusen club and get to know the team.
Pätzold: “Carlotta fits our game”
“She brings a lot of energy and wanted to help shape the start of training. This is impressive. The club has tried several times to guide her to Leverkusen. Because it fits very well with our already physical game,” praised Pätzold Wamser.
He was glad that the transfer would have worked in front of the European Championship. After that, “the competition would have been bigger”. Where he will put Wamser against Bayern, he did not want to reveal. At the national team, Wamser acted at the back right, but with Leverkusen the shoe presses at the back left. “We are glad that we got a player who can play defensively and aggressively in many positions,” said Pätzold Wamser’s precise role.
Fudalla should provide goals
It is pretty sure that Wamser is in the starting eleven. Just like Leverkusen’s other newcomers Vanessa Fudalla. With the recommendation of two seasons with more than ten goals scored at RB Leipzig, the steminer comes under the Bayer Kreuz. In the attack, she is supposed to relieve the Danish international Cornelia Kramer and could also appear in the offensive midfield. In the test games she already shone with five goals.
The first competitive goal is now to succeed in the Allianz Arena – regardless of whether it will be broken down for Bayer von Fudalla, Wamser or one of the other eight field players. If Bayer manages to calm the large arena through such a gate, it is the first step to the attack on the top trio. Perhaps the season ends again in a point record – and in the Champions League.
