Florian Lipowitz will start again for the first time on the Germany Tour three and a half weeks after his tour. The tour third should also help to further put cycling in Germany in the spotlight.
The Deutschland Tour is not one of the top events in the cycling calendar, this year it is also trapped between the Benelux tour and the Vuelta, which begins in Turin on Saturday.

On the Germany Tour, Lipowitz will now also run a race again. “I look forward to it”said the driver of the Team Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe in the Sportschau-Podcast Tourfunk. “There are not many races in Germany for us professionals, so it’s something special. It’s nice to run here again.”
Lipowitz is currently recovering from a cold that he wanted to take Germany tour especially for training. “I’ll just enjoy it”said Lipowitz of the German Press Agency. “I also want to give something back to the fans.” In France, so many German fans were on the track.

Lipowitz is also likely to be celebrated on the route at the Deutschland Tour, although the more flat profile of the tour, apart from the sections in the Sauerland, is less accommodating to him as a strong mountaineer.
For the organizers, the start of Lipowitz is “An absolute stroke of luck”said Fabian Wegmann, sporting director of the Deutschland Tour, in the Tourfunk Podcast of the Sportschau. “Since it has been clear that he is driving, I have been asked about it everywhere. Of course, I am pleased that he is there. And the audience can also be happy, he will be in shape.”
The Hype around Lipowitz is also intended to help cycling in Germany more present. It is also discussed again and again to extend the Germany tour revived in 2018 at least to a week. There is no shortage of prominent local figures at the latest with Lipowitz.
