FC Bayern’s basketball players started with a win in the new season of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). For a half -time, the guests from Jena kept well, then the Munich team pulled away.
Not everything went smoothly yet, but in the end the victory was safe: the German champion FC Bayern Munich started the new season with a 93:77 against promoted Jena. The best thrower among the hosts was Vladimir Lucic with 19 points.
Without three European champions
Before the game, the five Munichers were European champion Andreas Obst, Justus Hollatz, Oscar da Silva, Leon Kratzer and Johannes Voigtmann once again honored the title win in Riga. In the game itself, Coach Gordon Herbert had to do without fruit, Hollatz (both spared) and Voigtmann (injured). In addition, Roka’s Jokubaitis was missing because of his cruciate ligament tear suffered from the European Championship.
Jena used this and also the fact that after only a few training sessions, Bayern were not yet recorded with the complete squad. After the first quarter, the promoted team even banned 23:21.
Lucky Half-time leadership
In the middle of the second quarter, the Bavarians found their rhythm and went into the break with a short 48:47 lead-only thanks to a three-way from Neu access Xavier Rathan-Mayes with the final siren.
After the change of sides, Bayern then had the game under control. At Jena, the forces swore, FC Bayern decided significantly and deservedly won.
Euroleague start in Athens
The Munich team continues on Tuesday: Then the new season of the Euroleague starts with an away game at Panathinaikos Athens.
