Starcraft 2 pro Serral wins fourth Homestory Cup in a row

Loud chants echoed through the TaKeTV gaming bar: Homestory Cup, Homestory Cup, Homestory Cup – the Finnish Starcraft 2 pro Joona “Serral” Sotala has won his fourth Homestory Cup in a row. For the first time, the tournament was officially part of the ESL Pro Tour.

Serral’s tournament start was quite bumpy. In his group, the Zerg player only finished third and had to go to the lower bracket of the knockout round. But then the reigning world champion showed his ice-cold winning mentality again. The 24-year-old fought his way into the final with six wins in a row.

Homestory Cup: Starcraft 2 action into the night

20-year-old Frenchman Clément “Clem” Desplanches was waiting there. The two provided fans with SC2 action until 2 a.m. Serral prevailed in a first best-of-five series (3:1).

Because Clem came out of the upper bracket, it went into an all-important best-of-three series. Serral triumphed confidently (2:0) and extended the tournament record.

German SC2 professional Lambo in fourth place

The best German of the tournament was Julian “Lambo” Brosig. He made it to second place in his group and initially held his form in the knockout rounds as well.

He won against Piotr “Spirit” Walukiewicz (3:2) and Park “Zoun” Han-sol. Only in the semi-finals of the Lower Bracket was it over. There the Zerg player from Shopify Rebellion met Serral (1:3).
