The SSV Jahn Regensburg has already relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga. Now the club has drawn personnel consequences and separated from its head coach.

Second division relegated SSV Jahn Regensburg and coach Andreas Patz separate with immediate effect. As the Upper Palatinate announced, the previous assistant coach Munier Raychouni will be an interim coach for the last two games on Sunday against Karlsruher SC and a week later at SV Darmstadt 98.

The then assistant coach Patz had looked after the Regensburgers in the end of October after the 3: 8 debacle against the 1st FC Nürnberg and the separation of Joe Enochs as boss. At the end of November, the 41-year-old was promoted after a short and was equipped with a contract until the end of the season.

“After the away game in Cologne, as announced, I exchanged intensely and critically, but always openly and honestly. As a result of these conversations and also an extensive and critical season analysis, we made the common decision to go separate ways,” said sports director Achim Beierlorzer. Since the draw against Cologne last Saturday, the Jahn has also relegated mathematically.

“We would like to start a fresh start in the 3rd league and therefore want to start the upcoming challenges with new impulses and a new profile in the coaching team,” said Beierlorzer. Patz then asked the management to end his commitment “for personal reasons before the last two season games”. The club complied with this.

The ex-coach said about his farewell: “Unfortunately, we have not achieved the desired results in the past few months to grab the goal in the 2nd league. That hurts personally.” The separation is now “a consistent and shared decision.”

Patz has been employed in Regensburg since 2023. Previously, he had trained FC Carl Zeiss Jena and had been active in Belgium and Hungary as an assistant.
