David Kaff, the British musician and actor, who became known primarily through his role as a keyboardist Viv Savage in “This is Spinal Tap”. He was 79 years old.

Cult role in “This is Spinal Tap”

Kaff’s death was confirmed by his bandmates of the Mutual of Alameda’s Wild Kingdom. In a message on Facebook, they wrote that Kaff (born in Kaffinetti) “died peacefully” and added: “We are deeply shaken about this event. David always had a friendly word and a quick joke that could blow you around. And he also made you smile!”

As VIV Savage, Kaff had only a small role in “This is Spinal Tap,” but he was able to give an extraordinarily silly silly one. In a scene in which Michael McKean Viv asks if he could play a certain chord sequence on “Big Bottom”, Viv replies dryly: “Oh yes, I have two hands.” In another scene in which he plays video games in the tour bus of the band, he is amazed: “Quite exciting, this computer magic!”

But his most famous sentence fell during the film’s credits. When Rob Reiners Marty Dibergi asks him if he had a philosophy of life or a credo, VIV replies with a grin way: “Have a Good Time, All The Time.”

Also after the film with Spinal Tap active

Even after the film was published in 1984, Kaff remained a member of Spinal Tap for a while. He joined the band when she appeared in “Saturday Night Live” in the same year, and was later seen in a joking PSA on the subject of hearing loss. “Viv Savage from the band Spinal Tap comments on the subject of hearing loss,” says the narrator in the short film, whereupon Savage replies: “What?”

Early success with Rare Bird

Before his appearance in “This Is Spinal Tap”, Kaff was a member of the English Prog-Rock band Rare Bird, who published five albums between 1969 and 1975. The band celebrated its greatest success with the single “Sympathy” from 1969, which was 27th on the British charts.

Kaff will not be seen in the long -awaited sequel to “This is Spinal Tap”. The film entitled “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” is scheduled to come to cinemas on September 12th.
