It was already certain that the 250th radio broadcast of Graat & De Laat would be a special moment. Together with a bus full of listeners, they traveled to Caldonazzo in Italy to broadcast the anniversary broadcast at Christel de Laat’s permanent campsite. Is there a better time for a marriage proposal? Not if you ask Aard. He proposed to his girlfriend Jet there. “I only say ‘yes’ if you do it in a special way.”
“We got to know each other on the internet. First chatted a few times, for a week or two or three, and then we agreed,” says Aard. He calls it love at first sight. He even kept track of how long they’ve known each other: “Five years, four months, four days, twenty-three hours and thirty-six minutes!”
For the 250th radio broadcast of Graat & De Laat, listeners could register to travel to the location where presenter Christel de Laat goes on holiday every year. The perfect opportunity for Aard to make his proposal special, because in his proposal speech late he says that it had to be really special.

“You once said to me: I only say ‘yes’ if you do it in a special way. I couldn’t think of anything more special than this,” says Aard just before getting down on one knee. “So Jet: it doesn’t have to be today, it doesn’t have to be tomorrow, not even next week, but will you marry me?” Jet flies into his arms: “Yes!”
They are going to take it easy, says Jet after the proposal. “There is no doubt. The wedding is not going to be this year, but it is coming.”
Jordy Graat and Christel de Laat present the radio show Graat & De Laat every Saturday. When Christel goes on holiday to her regular campsite in Caldonazzo, she always makes time on Saturday to also make the program remotely with Jordy from the campsite.
The idea to go to the campsite for the anniversary broadcast came after a regular listener suggested driving to Italy.
