FRANKFURT–The SPD is not getting going even after its party conference and is continuing to lose support among voters. This is reported by Bild, citing the representative opinion trend of the Insa Institute.
If the federal election were to take place on Sunday, the Social Democrats would only get 15 percent. That’s half a point less than the previous week. Alliance90/The Greens also lost half a point to 13 percent. The CDU/CSU (31 percent), FDP (four percent) and BSW (6.5 percent) maintain their values from the previous week. The AfD, on the other hand, made gains again, increasing its popularity by half a point to 22 percent.
Insa boss Hermann Binkert told Bild that the CDU/CSU’s victory in the federal election can hardly be taken away: “The Union remains by far the strongest force. It will most likely lead the next federal government. It remains to be seen whether it will do so requires one or two partners.”
