Spanish weather service announces the red code for “heavy torrence and floods”

The Spanish weather service Aemet has scaled up the warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Valencia and Catalonia regions from code orange to code red. For fear of similar floods such as in October last year, when 235 people died, the civil protection residents warned through their smartphone about the approaching stormy weather. In the night from Sunday to Monday it rained violently in many places, but no major damage has been reported for the time being.
