Almost three weeks after Borja Gomez’s disappearance, a new mourning affects motorcycling. Pau Alsina Sanchez, a young Spanish talent, died after a serious accident. He was 17 years old. The pilot stumbled upon a violent fall during a training carried out on the Aragon circuit on Saturday 19 July. After two days the death was confirmed. Pau competed in the Dunlop Civ Moto3, where he had obtained four podiums in five races, occupying the fourth general place. In addition, Alsina was also engaged in the Juniorgp Moto3, a class in which he was in his debut with good results: seventh in the standings, with an eighth place as best placement.

fatal accident

The dynamics of the accident is not entirely clear. According to what is reported by the Catalan sources Royal Royal and Ona Bages, Alsina would have fallen into one of the fastest curves of the route, violently hitting the asphalt with the head. Immediately rescued, he had been transported to the nearest hospital in Saragozza. Today Pau has been subjected to a new emergency intervention. Unfortunately, the delicate operation did not prove sufficient to save the young pilot.

Motors in the family

Originally from Sallent de Llobregat, in Catalonia, Alsina had inherited the passion of engines from the family, starting with the father who was linked to the karts. Pau had preferred the two wheels, initially tested, with good results in the Catalan Motocross championships. Then the passage to the track races, which began in 2021 with the European Talent Cup. This year, in addition to doing well in the CIV, had started running with the Estrella Galicia team in the Juniorgp Moto3, a preparatory category at the entrance to the World Championship. A dream that Alsina was meticulously cultivating, as demonstrated by the training carried out in Aragon, where, in the next weekend, he would have had to compete.
