The stormy development of Dean Huijsen does not go unnoticed in the football world. According to the Spanish newspaper Marca the Dutch centre-back can even expect a call from the Spanish Football Association soon. Does he choose Orange or does the Spanish outfit work like a red rag to a bull?
The 18-year-old youth exponent of Juventus has been loaned to AS Roma this season and is slowly but surely profiling himself as a permanent force. With a potentially glittering (international) career ahead, the defender is increasingly being pushed.
At the age of 5, he and his family left the Netherlands, after which he grew up in Spain. This also means that he can choose between the Spanish national team and the Dutch team. Huijsen himself previously indicated that he wanted to go for his chance in the Netherlands, where he is now also a youth international. Still reports Marca that the Spanish association nevertheless wants to do everything it can to change the defender’s mind.
No Europa League
The Dutchman has played seven games in Serie A so far. After a number of substitute appearances, he has been given the opportunity to play in the starting line-up for a number of weeks. He also scored against Frosinone last weekend his second goal for the club. He will not be in the match against Feyenoord next Thursday, because AS Roma has not registered him for the Europa League.
