Meta’s famous messaging service has seen its share of changes since the takeover by Facebook in 2014. In 2021, it clashed with European privacy protection authorities for its controversial terms of use. The app remains heavily used, but did not see significant growth in the last quarter. According to WABetaInfoMeta will soon announce a premium version to broaden its outlook.
A fully optional offer
The website WABetaInfo, which is dedicated to tracking WhatsApp news, made a very interesting discovery on May 17. By observing the release notes of the beta version of the application, available on iOS, Android and PC, it is possible to see that a paid offer of WhatsApp is under development.

This new messaging-related service is simply called WhatsApp Premium. It would be available exclusively for users who have a professional account. This offer does not oblige companies to use it, so it is entirely optional.
With WhatsApp Premium business users should be able to link ten different devices to the same account. Each of these devices can be renamed as the user wishes for easier navigation.
Standard WhatsApp users would not be affected.
WhatsApp Premium would also plan to add a feature that allows you to create and customize a unique link to invite users to join a chat channel. Professionals can already send links to their customers, but this one contains the phone number of the sender.
With Premium, professional accounts can create a link at their convenience, such as: century.digital/contact. However, the user’s number would remain hidden. It is above all a way to memorize the links more easily. The link thus created is unique and allows you to open a very specific discussion channel, selected beforehand. This link could only be changed once every 90 days.
Meta has not yet communicated officially, so there is no more information on Premium at this time. Pricing and release date are still unknown and additional features may arrive in the future. This offer will not be available for standard accounts. Meta has had to scale back its budget for the metaverse and is looking for new ways to fund its projects. This service could improve the profitability of WhatsApp, which remains a strong activity of the tech giant.
