28-year-old Marius Borg Høiby, the son of the Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby, is suspected of rape and three assaults. In a press conference, the public prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø said he would sue him for a total of 32 crimes. Henriksbø spoke of “very serious acts that can leave lasting scars and destroy lives.”

The assault and rape would, according to Norwegian medium NRK All four took place after Høiby and the women had sexual intercourse with mutual permission. Afterwards, according to the public prosecutor, Høiby would have assaulted the women in their sleep, and filmed that.

According to Henriksbø, the police have viewed large quantities of video material. “This is crucial evidence that is used against him.” Høiby says she is innocent.

Abuse and death threats

In addition to assault and rape, Høiby is accused of mistreatment of his ex-partner, influencer Nora Haukland. He would also have used violence against another ex-partner. He is also accused of expressing death threats, the mistreatment of an official and several traffic violations.

The alleged crimes would have taken place between 2018 and 2024. The last assault would have been at the end of last year, while he was arrested by the police earlier that year. Høiby can get a maximum of ten years in prison.

In a statement to NRK The Norwegian Koningshuis said: “It is up to court to deal with this case and make a decision. We have nothing to add to this.”

Høiby is the stepson of Kroonprins Haakon Magnus van Norway, from an earlier marriage of Mette-Marit. He has no royal title. The prosecutor said that Høiby “will not be treated differently because he is part of the royal family.”
