Soccer Podcast | ‘This fuss about the future of Arne Slot should not go on for another month’ | Dutch football

PSV plays with the Champions League ticket and sees Ajax have a chance with one round to go. Who will be second, third and fourth in the Premier League? Everything is decided at the bottom. Furthermore, the class of Pep Guardiola, the concerns in Munich and the anger of Vinícius Júnior after racism in Valencia. Etienne Verhoeff goes through it all in the AD Football podcast with Mikos Gouka and Johan Inan.

Where does the future of Arne Slot lie? Journalists from England visited the press conference for the game against FC Emmen on Friday. The questions keep coming, but clarity about the future of the trainer is not yet clear. “If no clubs are interested at all and you still have a contract for two years, then it is clear. Only Slot and his management know that there is latent interest, but they have not yet reported to Feyenoord,” says Gouka. “This cannot go on for another month. Someone within the club must now talk to Slot. Within what period the clubs must report.”

Inan: ,,From his words afterwards in front of the ESPN camera, you can tell that he would love to take that step”, he says about Slot, who also liked a step to Leeds United last winter. Then Feyenoord did not cooperate.

Cambuur and FC Groningen had already been relegated. Due to Feyenoord’s victory over FC Emmen and Excelsior’s victory over Fortuna Sittard, FC Emmen now has to play play-offs. ,,I have seen FC Emmen against Feyenoord, but the game is really mediocre”, says Gouka. “I don’t see it getting better there anytime soon. What surprises me most is that twenty minutes before the end, the entire team can no longer physically keep up. Players grab at the hamstring or the groin. Trainers always copy elements of success from other trainers. In the Eredivisie they can take over the physical ability of the Feyenoord players.’

In England, Manchester City became champions again, for the fifth time in six years. Is Guardiola the best coach ever? “A good trainer reduces the number of bad buys. Jürgen Klopp has made far more bad buys than Guardiola. And the Spaniard is so inventive. At all the clubs where he has worked, he was so good tactically that players ended up in new positions. He is the greatest in this for me.”
