By June 30th, Carney Chukwuemeka was awarded from FC Chelsea to the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. The BVB now apparently is planning an extension with the central midfielder.
As the “Bild” reports, the bosses of Borussia Dortmund want to extend the loan contract with Carney Chukwuemeka by two weeks. Negotiations with Chelsea FC should already run.
The background to the unusual mini contract is the club World Cup, which will be held in the USA from June 14 to July 13.
With his current contract, Chukwuemeka would either have to stop the tournament in the middle or not even compete.
But the BVB absolutely wants to have the 21 years old Englishman, it is said.
The prerequisite for a deal should be that an extension for the Dortmund is “inexpensive”.
In addition to the club World Cup, Chukwuemeka probably has no future at BVB. According to the “Ruhr Nachrichten”, which is usually well informed, the black and yellow will “do not make any efforts” in order to reach an agreement on a fixed obligation with Chelsea FC.
A new loan of the 21-year-old was also “unlikely”, it continued in the regional newspaper report.
Chukwuemeka at BVB usually only replacement
The Dortmunders will definitely not pull the purchase option integrated in the rental deal of 35 million euros, which has been foreseeable for some time. Non-negotiations on a possible discount by the blues to see the U21 international in the coming season in the BVB jersey are now probably off the table.
Chukwuemeka only made 13 out of 20 possible games for BVB in the second half of the season. In most games it was only enough for the midfielder for short -term appearances in the final phase. His fitness state was “dramatically bad” when arriving at the Westfalenstadion, the “Ruhr Nachrichten” reported.
