IFK Göteborg steered to victory in the orienteering major event in the relay of Venlo. Orienteering in the team Erika Källvik Leufvén, Malin Agervig Kristiansson, Johanna Källvik Leufvén and Sanna Fasth.
The result was exciting until the last leg. Kalevan Rastin started the last leg in the lead Elisa Mattila. However, Fasth, the anchor of the Swedish team, was too hard to beat.
– At first it was tense and there was a little uncertainty. My legs felt numb from the start. I knew that Sanna would come after it hard, Mattila described the anchor part in Yle.
In the end, the difference between the winning team and the winning team was a minute.
In addition to Mattila, Kalevan Rasti’s first team included Siiri Silvennoinen, Ida Haapala and Marika Teini.
The Norwegian team Nydalens SK finished third.
The last time the Finnish team won the Venlo relay was in 2010.
On Saturday, the event area was affected by a major power outage, which was caused by an electric pole that burned down due to a component failure.
Among other things, Yle’s broadcast was interrupted several times during the competition. A back-up power source was put into use in the competition area and the electricity function returned to normal.
