He had a lot to do and wanted to change his sport. Now the Freerider Eliot Dancer has died – at the age of 22.

A tragic accident shakes the freeride scene: Eliot Dänzer, one of the most promising young drivers in Switzerland, died in an avalanche. The 22-year-old was spilled on the west flank of the Eiger on Saturday-near the summit. There was another death next to him.

Dancer had made a name for himself as a junior world champion in the freeride and was considered a hopeful in snowboard sport. The Freeride World Tour, organized by the World Association FIS, was dismayed: “Eliot was not just part of the large freeride family, it was one of their upcoming stars. Our deepest sympathy applies to his relatives.”

In December, another Swiss snowboarder died in an avalanche accident with Sophie Hediger. The 26-year-old had been in the canton of Graubünden.
